Weeting Steam Engine Rally 2018

Weeting Steam Engine Rally & Country Show, Fengate Farm, Weeting, IP27 0QF will celebrate their 50th Anniversay this year and is sure to be a very special event.
MAIN RING

Our main ring is always sight to behold. This year's show will see amazing displays of canine ability from Will's Working Spaniels and Britannia K9 Security & Training Display Team. We will also be recreating some of our original programme entries from our original 1968 show!

Dog Display Dog Display

Britannia K9 Security and Training Display Team is a thrilling K9 show, interacting with the audience, and always draws a big crowd. There’s some small explosions, gun-fire and smoke. Top level obedience and control, a demonstration of schutzhund Dutch police knpv work and security & tactical scenarios.

Banham Horses Woodforde Horses

There will also be Heavy horse displays, showing off the beautiful giants using various implements, along with the chance to have a go at long reining a Heavy Horse to really get the feel of the power and strength behind them. Banham Zoo are regular visitors too with their beautiful heavy horses.

We will be providing musical entertainment in the main bar so if you just fancy relaxing with a cold beverage with a lovely view of the main ring whilst listening to some music then the bar tent is the place to be.

SMALL DEMONSTRATION RING

Over in the small ring you will also see displays from Will's Working Spaniels and Britannia Canine Dog Display, in case you miss them in the main ring. You can watch the art of chainsaw carving and Gundog training displays along with the exhibits from around the rally field parading throughout the day.

Other Attractions:

The Norton Owners Club (N O C) was formed in 1959 & is now an international organisation with over 4800 members. For 2018 The N O C will be incorporating their annual 'Norton Festival' with the usual Norfolk branch display. This event is held in a different part of the country each year & usually attracts Norton motorcycles from all corners of the UK, & sometimes even further afield. It aims to put a wide variety of models from all eras on display to promote the marque & the NOC. Over 200 bikes will be on display at the Rally, and as 2018 will mark the 50th anniversary of the introduction of the 'Commando', so there will be a special emphasis on that particular model. First available in 1968, production ceased in the late seventies, but an updated version of the Commando, the 961, was re-introduced by a re-formed Norton in 2010 & remains in production to date. Alongside the Commandos, there will be a good selection of other Norton models, including some of the competition & rarer variants.

In the tractor field the Norfolk Mini Tractor Pullers Association will be holding a tractor pull. Formed in 2016 by a group of friends, the group decided to modify old lawnmowers and build mini tractors to compete, and have gone from strength to strength.

Over 140 tractors attend the event each year. There are parades of steam traction engines and steam lorries, vintage tractors and fire engines. You can see working steam-powered farmyard machines, a full sized steam train on rails, a model steam train (which takes passengers around a track) and small steam models including boats on a pond. There are also static displays of vintage cars, motorbikes and military vehicles.

The working areas will be in full swing showing you how the engines were used in times gone by. Look out for road making, stone crushing, threshing, milling and wood sawing demonstrations.

Our helicopter flights have proved to be popular way to get a birds-eye view of the whole show and some of the surrounding area. We also have old time fairground rides as well as new rides, bouncy castles, archery, tank rides, and many other bits and pieces to keep each member of the family entertained. There are craft marquees and many trade stands to wander around at your leisure. We also work with the local community to provide free entertainment for children over in the Hub with a fenced-in safety zone by the main ring, alongside a number of museums and local organisations who host displays and interactive amusements.

We have two bars on the showground, the Burrell Restaurant will be open all day and evening, and a number of catering stands, which are dotted around the showground, for less formal meals and snacks. The bars will also host live music.
